In Nigeria, like many parts of the world, women are the backbone of families and communities. Yet, they often face systemic barriers that limit their economic potential; from limited access to education and financial services to entrenched cultural norms and gender-based discrimination.

Thankfully, a powerful shift is underway as innovative empowerment interventions such as the Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Project are breaking these barriers, raising generations of entrepreneurs who are changing the economic climate of their communities and state.

On the 28th and 29th of May 2025, over 1,000 women were verified and onboarded through an orientation program for the second phase of the WEE Project and Skills Acquisition Program in Zaria, Makarfi, and Sabon Gari local government areas of Kaduna State.

The 3-year project funded by Bayer Foundation had in attendance a cross-section of stakeholders from the various districts including representatives from Zaria Emirate, District Heads and Community Leaders from Sabon Gari and Makarfi, Village Heads, representatives from the WEE Project Management Office, representatives from Healthy Entrepreneurs and AHA, and other stakeholders.

Women’s economic empowerment is not a privilege; it is a strategic investment in a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future for all. That’s why this 6-month free training program which commenced on the 2nd of June 2025 is designed to catalyze mental shifts that will lift entire households out of poverty, create jobs, and a more skilled future generation.

Join us as we witness the lives of 1,000 rural families and communities transform one woman at a time.
